Pagerank dropped another point

This blog is now a Pagerank 2. About two months ago this blog had a Pagerank of 4 when it suddenly dropped to 3 and now another drop.

What is up with the Pagerank system? Are the rumours true that the days of the Pagerank system is over?

I’ve seen one of my sites drop a PR point too, though the ones I’ve been more active on haven’t moved.

I posted some tools to check page rank here : http://devilworks.com/2007/09/20/the-ultimate-list-of-google-page-rank-tools/

I wouldn’t worry about PageRank too much. I think you need to post more often here Andreas. Time to start building!!!

We have noticed strange things happening with Page Rank during 2007. My guess is that as more and more sites appear on the web, it is going to be harder to maintain Google’s Page Rank (out of 10!) since the competition will become tougher.

The best thing seems to be to keep the content quality right up there so that people will want to come to your site.

On that note, well done Andreas! I hope all these comments keep working for your site.

Since the last page rank update I’ve increased by backlinks quite significantly from high PR sites. All the PR predictor tools on the web gave me an indication that my PR would rise from 1 to 3 after the recent update.

That didn’t happen. My PR1 is no more! :(

On another note, AdSense earnings are down for October. This despite having more traffic and a higher CTR than ever before.

Reading Digital Point forums reveals a similar trend across the board!

None of this makes sense? Has Google’s mantra, “Don’t be evil” been thrown out the window?

Has the Mountain View giant lost the plot?
