Be personal when blogging

Your blog is nothing without your personal opinion in your posts. If you are not a professional journalist for some big news site, do not act as you are one.

Of course your content must be highly professional in all ways, but your readers also visit your blog to get your personal view on the subjects you write about. That is one vital thing that seperates you from other blogs and news sites.

I also think it is important to have a mixed blog with both personal and business/work updates. If you just show yourself as a “stiff” entrepreneur I am sure you will lose out on a lot of returning readers. But there is a fine line here of what you should include on your blog and not, and how often you should squeeze in a personal post on your business blog. I would say not to often, but often enough. Like twice a month or so on a frequently updated blog.

I agree. I think your blog is making good progress since you are posting more often and throwing in the occaisional personal post. I think it’s a good balance. One thing I would like to see on your blog is more personal business updates that relate to your sites, since I have you on my list list of entrepreneur blogs. I have a suggestion, maybe start a new site from scratch and blog about every part of it’s development from coming up with idea to building the site, to getting links to creating content, etc. I think it would make a good case study and also make you some money. For those of us who read your blog… We could give suggestions and input on the advice we would give. Anyway there are lots of possibilities. I think taking a site from scratch like this could help it become very successful and you would always have something to blog about with updates and such. Just my 2 cents.

On another note. Is there anyway for you to allow comments to show up immediately? I think that would encourage more comments here.

As always your comments and suggestions are awesome Marc. I have decided to start a new blog, and I will write about it here, step byt step.

About the comment to show up immedietly I have fixed that now. I had it in moderation because of all the spam I get. But no Aksimet seems to take care of the most of it so maybe it will work out now.

I think moderation is fine when you don’t check the blog very often, but you seem to be on here almost every day now, so I think is deleting spam is easier when you are always on the blog. I think moderation is better when you don’t check the blog every day.

You have a gorgeous blog and your subjects are relevant and interesting as well. I will definitely remember to be personal when I post on my blog, it’s something I hadn’t considered until I read your post.
